PLAYMOBIL Hellas supports "ELPIDA"

On Thursday 1 November 2012 PLAYMOBIL Hellas presented the company's first Corporate Social Responsibility program, PLAYMOBIL play & give , in the amphitheater of the "Marianna V. Vardinoyannis-ELPIDA" Children's Oncology Unit.

For PLAYMOBIL it is a new pioneering initiative globally which constitutes practical proof of the company's solidarity towards the sick children who need our support during these difficult times.   PLAYMOBIL play & give was launched this year and part of the proceeds will be donated for the creation of the Volunteer Bone Marrow Donor Registry , the new project undertaken by the "ELPIDA" Association.

Speaking at the Press conference, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis , UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and President of the "ELPIDA" Association of Friends of Children with Cancer noted:   "The joint venture between "ELPIDA" and the foremost toy company PLAYMOBIL aims not only at embracing the children with cancer and supporting their fight but also at raising awareness among children in our country, using its toys as the vehicle for achieving it. Children are the foundation and the future of our society.   And the wager that we adults must win is to raise citizens who are socially aware and capable of demonstrating solidarity. It is truly very encouraging that the PLAYMOBIL initiative is moving in this direction and what's more at a particularly difficult time for our country.

Part of the revenue from the sales of the new PLAYMOBIL figures, the pirate and the princess, made exclusively for the Greek market, will be donated to the "ELPIDA" Association's great project.   The figures were presented to the Press by Mr. Giorgos Pagonis, General Manager of PLAYMOBIL Hellas:   "A year and a half ago, he said, we tried to launch a program of corporate social responsibility which I would call a program of returning to community.   In other words to give back to the community something of what we have received all these years.   Our most important consideration was finding something that suited PLAYMOBIL but it also had to be something more than that.   "ELPIDA" gave us the hope (elpida) of finding it.   Our initial goal was that the product to be launched in the market would have a low price so that children themselves could buy it.   Secondly, it had to give value to the child who bought it.   Therefore it must be a collector's item.   So don't imagine that thousands of these items will be available on the market.   Believe me the future value of these two figures will be very great.   Thirdly, we wanted to make the child feel special, to be proud of buying it, in other words to make it possible for Greek children to say that they are the only ones in the world who have them.   Up until now we at PLAYMOBIL have taught children how to play; from now on we also want to teach children to give."

And, after thanking Mrs. Vardinoyannis for the opportunity she has given to PLAYMOBIL Hellas to express its social side, Mr. Pagonis concluded by saying to her:   "It is my hope and wish that only deposits will be made to the Volunteer Bone Marrow Bank you are preparing!"

The   PLAYMOBIL play & give will be available at all toy stores until stocks are depleted.   For additional information : www.playmobil.gr, facebook . com / PlaymobilHellas .
